colours. Entering this intimate estabishment, you sink
deep into a sea of silk; carefully selected from
traditional silk villages both in Vietnam and China.
you'll find every type of silk product, inluding
napkins, table-cloths and pillows, all with a detailed
description on paper.
Traditional and up-to-date fashions
are designed and hand-made by reputable designers and
tailors; some created from more unusual materials.
Ready-to-wear garments feature predominately silk skirts
and dresses nad shirts for men; a tailoring service is
also available. Costs are very reasonable (bearing in
mind the high quality), but dependant of course on size
and materials used. An additional $2-3 is charged for
beads or embroidered patterns added. This palace of silk
also features meticulously embroidered pictures,
featuring Vietnam's haunting landscapes. Mr. Hai, the
shop's owner, proudly reveals that his skilled workers
can convert any painting to embroidery. In fact, the
embroidered works adorning the walls are akin to real
art works. Don't miss the fashionable silk bags and
shoes, designed and created solely by Hai Dang: prices
range from $10 to $16. Established just three years ago,
Hai Dang silk is fast becoming a regular address for
foreign clientele; the friendly staff also speak good
English.
